Immigration Reform

This article states that Obama said in the coming weeks and months he is going to work on immigration reform. He appealed to and got the support of almost 3/4 of the Latino vote that helped propel him to another victory. Is this something that needs to be addressed so soon with other problems at hand?

  1. I do think its important for him to address the immigration reform since the majority of the Latino/Hispanic population voted for him and having these votes on his favor is a good thing, HOWEVER, I think there are other things that could be put first. Obama has a lot to prove and address in this new term. He should focus on the cliff for example, which is happening soon.

  2. After that fiscal cliff is dealt with though, and barring a sudden downturn in the economy. I think this will be something of Hugh priority for the president. He knows where his party's political base is and he knows that in order to keep their support into 2016 and beyond will have to complete the reform like he had promised to do in the last term.

Furthermore with the results of this election the republicans are also going to look to try and steal this thunder from democrats to try and boost their chances for 2016. I think the combination for obligation and reaching out will see immigration reform love quickly through the legislation and onto the presidents desk whether or nother it is what's "best" for the country at this time.
