This is an interesting article relating an increase of gun sales to the election of Obama. I didn't think there would be a connection but this explains a little bit of why sales did increase. Are these smart investments by the people purchasing the guns?
I don't know if smart is necessarily the word I would use to describe these investments. It seems to me that they're really doing this all on a whim and out of spite. I'm sure some of these people are just buying guns for the sake of buying guns, not because they actually need it for any particular reason. At least they are stimulating the economy I suppose.
ReplyDeleteI definitely was previously aware of the connection and it makes a lot of sense that gun sales have gone up since Obama was reelected. Gun control is a tough issue since Americans have had the right to bear arms for so many years, yet many argue that restricting gun laws infringes upon personal freedom. The scariest part about all of this is how little a person needs to do to get a gun that has the potential to be very dangerous. Cars can be very dangerous but we must go through lots of training and testing before obtaining a license to drive, so why isn't it the same in regard to guns? I think that the idea of gun laws changing has had a bad impact on our country because it drives up gun sales and i'm sure some of those people who have recently purchased gun are not knowledgeable about safety precautions, they simply want to get a gun before its too late.
ReplyDeleteThis does make sense since Democrats are typically associated with more regulation and since the ability to purchase firearms has been debated in the past. Since former president Bill Clinton put regulations on firearms, people might be assuming this Democratic president might do the same. What confuses me a bit is that this is Obama’s reelection. If he was to do something about firearms, it would have already been done.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I have no problem with firearms and believe it is a part of our freedom to own a gun if we want. If regulation was set on assault weapons, then they will simply be sold on the black-market. People who want guns will find ways to get them, bottom line. Isn’t better to have the sale the firearms contribute to our GDP?
