Such massive amounts of money that are inherent in the elections is one of the reasons why I think income inequality contributes to political problems. The disparity in income levels is providing the top one percent with an unnecessary amount of control over the lives of others, consequently undermining the fairness of political institutions. Without the money to get into the position and be a candidate, it is unlikely to ever be heard. I think the amount of money it takes to succeed in an election or even run in an election is evidence to how the top earners have more control over others than we really think, considering they are the only ones capable of running and being heard.
