  1. I find it interesting that access to healthcare is something that should be debated in politics. We are one of the only developed countries in the world that does not offer some form of universal healthcare. This kind of gets back to the idea of what is the right to survive and is that something that our government should determine.

  2. I like that New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez, a Republican, says, "I didn't support Obamacare, but it is the law of the land...My job is to implement this law in a way that best serves New Mexicans." Too bad that not all opposers of the law think this way.

    1. I found that interesting as well. In fact I kind of respect her for making that decision. She has acted in the best interest of her people. It would be a much different political situation if all politicians acted in a similar way. We would not be hearing of this shutdown bickering.

  3. The passage discussing how republicans in Congress blocked the 'clean-up' of Obamacare that is typically passed through with ease--not actually blocking or damaging the bill itself, just making it more a pain in the ass to work with. Really goes to show how ideological the battle is (I agree with Colin, interesting that it is even debated at all in US politics).

  4. “The law that is being implemented is not really the law that passed the Congress.”
Thought this was a great quote. Nobody ever really seems to be on the same page, or know the outcomes of policies they put in place. HMMMM....
