Read this little article. So what is wrong with the notion of covering more people with health insurance? It may not be the pareto optimal solution but it is welfare-enhancing, isn't it?
I think that everyone should be able to have health insurance and I am not entirely sure why so many people are against the ACA. The law is simply attempting to make health care more affordable via a more competitive market, the offering of a variety of subsidies, and prohibiting discrimination based on previous conditions, sex, or age.
i agree with devin. it's a tragic to hear the constant debate against universal healthcare when the republicans don't have constructive solutions to offer.
"When we decided that people couldn’t discriminate in what they paid black people or women any more, people had to pay more because employers couldn’t discriminate in what they paid black people and women. Was that a bad thing? " This really resonated with me. In order to fix the system and make it more equitable we will have to pay a little more.
"The thing that staggers me about the Republican hatred of this law is its abstract quality. They never address the real problem of our massively inefficient private healthcare market, which is a huge burden on the economy. They never address how to help the millions of uninsured adults get the care all human beings need. They appear to regard a Heritage Foundation, free-market-designed, private healthcare exchange system as some kind of communist plot. They do not seem to believe there is any pressing problem at all. And they have nothing constructive to offer." This quote here really hit me. I think this is the case for most arguments in congress!
